In Final Fantasy 1, four light warriors are summoned in order to save their planet from a deadly force; each two hold a mysterious crystal. In Final Fantasy 2, the evil Empire of Baramekia has killed the parents of four young youths. These children form a resistance together and help the rebel effort in any way they can.
Former friends turn to traitors, only to later return to the side of good. In the end, it is not the Empire that threatens the world, but the insidious evil that lies behind it all: the Dark Cloud.
